4 tips to make little moments of connection count

(BPT) – It can be difficult to stay connected with the people you love. Staying connected with your children is especially important because quality connections can help them feel supported and loved as they grow and change. According to the 2021 Parents & Quality Time – National Consumer Survey by Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats, three out of four parents believe small, everyday moments with family are the most important way to foster big connections over time.*

What’s more, building supportive connections through little moments and memories goes beyond parents and children; it includes all members of the framily (friends and family), including parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers and coaches.

That’s why it’s important to celebrate the magic made in the little moments of connection. You don’t have to plan long, extravagant vacations or long weekend road trips to make memories and build connections with those you love. Incorporating little moments of quality time into your daily routine can go a long way in creating meaningful moments that add up.

If you need ideas for making the little moments count, check out these tips for spending some good ole quality time together every day.

1. Take a walk or hike

Getting outdoors is a great way to spend time together and create meaningful memories with kids. Whether they’re 5 or 15, taking a walk around the neighborhood or a leisurely hike at a park allows children to move and feel safe to talk about their hopes, dreams and passions. It can also give your kids room to talk about big feelings they might be having about friends, school or other aspects of their lives.

2. Catch up over snack time

What’s better than snack time? Scheduling time to connect regularly throughout the day or week gives you and your kids time to catch up and talk casually about what’s going on in school and life. Make it fun and tasty by chatting over a snack break. You can do this on the field after soccer practice, on the way home after band practice or at the kitchen table.

Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats are a classic and delicious treat you can share while catching up. Pull the treat apart and enjoy the ooey-gooey taste while talking about your day and make plans for future quality time. If you ever have to skip snack time, leave a note for your child on the writeable wrapper to let them know you’re still thinking of them.

3. Bond over music

Have a jam session with your kids. Introduce them to songs and artists you love and let them do the same. Whether you have similar or different tastes, you’ll learn a lot about each other. Take it to the next level and sing songs together in the car or hold a dance party in your living room.

Just take it from Grammy Award-Winning singer/songwriter, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ciara who knows the importance of little moments, which is why she has teamed up with Rice Krispies Treats to write and release “Treat,” a catchy summertime song inspired by real framilies’ moments of connection, debuting June 21, 2022. It’s the perfect soundtrack for road trip sing-a-longs, family beach days and more.
